Curaçao is an island you should not only experience on land, but especially from the water. Consider a day on a catamaran towards paradise-like Klein Curaçao, snorkeling at hidden coves or a romantic sunset cruise along the south coast.
For almost all of these boat tours: you need a car to get there. Most tours leave early, in locations where cabs are limited and public transportation barely runs. With a rental car from Cura Explore Car Rentals you’ll drive to the departure port relaxed, right on time and hassle-free. Moreover, we can also help you book the tours ourselves – very convenient!
Below you will find an overview (in no particular order) of the 10 most beautiful boat trips on Curaçao, including departure points, prices, what is included and why it is so nice to have your own transportation.
1. Mermaid Boat Trips – Luxury day trip to Klein Curaçao
If you are looking for comfort, this boat trip is an excellent choice. You leave early from the Vissershaven at Spanish Water and sail a spacious motorboat to the pearly white beach of Klein Curaçao. The price is around €130 per person, including breakfast, extensive BBQ lunch, soft drinks and access to a beach house with sun beds, showers and toilets.
Easily accessible by car – the port is just 20 minutes outside Willemstad.
2. BlueFinn Charters – Snorkeling trip to three bays
This popular catamaran trip departs from Jan Thiel Beach and takes you past three beautiful snorkeling sites, including the famous Tugboat. The price is about €89 per person and it includes lunch, drinks and snorkeling equipment.
Since you have to embark as early as 8:30 a.m., own transportation is practically essential.
3. Irie Tours – Sunset Cruise
A relaxing end to the day is Irie Tours’ sunset cruise. This cozy cruise departs from Mambo Beach Boulevard and costs about €49 per person. It comes with an open bar and snacks while you enjoy the sunset at sea.
Afterwards, it is ideal to drive your own car back to your accommodation – especially if you sleep outside the city.
4. Miss Ann – Comfortable catamaran to Klein Curaçao
Miss Ann is a well-known name in Curaçao and offers a luxury day trip to Klein Curaçao from Santa Barbara. For €130 you get breakfast, a full lunch, drinks and a beach house at your disposal.
Since Santa Barbara is quite remote, a car is ideal to get there.
5. Powerboat Caribbean – The fastest to Klein Curaçao
Those who get seasick easily should opt for a powerboat. You leave from Caracas Bay and are on Klein Curaçao in 45 minutes. The tour costs a little more (€144), but in return you get an adventurous ride, lunch, drinks and snorkeling equipment.
Note: Caracasbaai is difficult to reach without your own transportation.
6. Go West Diving – Snorkeling trip to the Blue Room
This snorkel tour departs from Playa Kalki in Westpunt and takes you to the magical Blue Room, an underwater cave where sunlight makes the water glow bright blue. For about €60 to €80 per person, you get guidance, snorkeling equipment and water/snacks.
Because Westpunt is a good 45-60 minute drive from Willemstad, this is typically one of those trips you can only plan with a car.
7. Red Snapper Boat Trips – Spanish Water & Fuikbaai Cruise – BBQ, snorkeling and relaxing on the water
The Spanish Water & Fuikbaai Cruise is a relaxing boat ride where you depart from Brakkeput or Caracasbaai and sail along the tropical Spanish Water. You will discover mangroves, luxury villas and tranquil lagoons, before arriving at the secluded Fuikbaai. There you can swim, snorkel or relax on the water while a delicious BBQ is served on board. Drinks are included and the atmosphere is cozy and casual, with music playing in the background. The trip costs an average of €75 to €85 per person and is organized by Red Snapper Boat Trips, among others. With a rental car from Cura Explore, you are flexible and can easily drive to the departure point – we are happy to help you book!
8. Caribbean Experience – Private boat for your party
Would you rather decide where to go yourself? Then you can rent a private boat at Caribbean Experience, for example from Jan Thiel or Brakkeput. From about €250 per boat (for 4-10 people) you sail with skipper to snorkel spots or beaches of your choice.
A car here gives you all the freedom you need to set off with cool box and towels.
9. BlueFinn TopCat – Luxury catamaran to Klein Curaçao
This modern catamaran offers a more spacious and stable crossing to Klein Curaçao. For €114 per person, you get a full lunch, drinks and snorkeling equipment. Departure is from Jan Thiel Beach, where it is difficult to get there on time without a car.
10. Tugboat Beach – Glass Bottom Boat Tour
For those who want to admire the underwater world without snorkeling themselves, the glass bottom boat at Tugboat Beach is highly recommended. You will see fish and coral below you, and you can also choose to snorkel later. This tour costs about €45 per person.
The departure point at Caracas Bay is far beyond the reach of public transportation – by car you’ll get there in no time.
Why a rental car on boat trips is really convenient
Almost all boat trips leave early in the morning or end around sunset. Cabs are scarce or expensive then, and public transportation is simply not available in many places. Some tours do have transfers. But with a rental car you decide what time you leave, you can take extra stuff with you and get back to your accommodation without stress.
