The district was built around Fort Amsterdam and quickly grew into an important trading center in the Caribbean. <\/span><\/p><p class=\"isSelectedEnd\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Today, Punda is part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site thanks to its unique colonial architecture. The famous colored facades along the Handelskade are one of the most photographed spots on the island.
